Faces of the Week

This past week I had several faces that I have been rocking... Some where looks that I used to get ready for Halloween and one is from a look on which I did a really simply and wearable smokey look using my UD Naked Palette.  What do you think?

Creepy goth/vampire look - I filmed a tutorial but can't seem to find it - so I think it still needs to be edited ;)

When I think of Halloween - I think of purple & orange.  I filmed a tutorial on this look and you can watch it here:  http://youtu.be/Sf0ptus6SBg?hd=1

the photo above also features the same look as the one below.  But the one below has special effects editing to make it a little creepy - perfect for Halloween ;)

The "blue lip" look was done to bring out the beautiful "Sky" blue lipstick from Secretkisseslipstick.com.  I am also using my Inglot shadows on my eyes.

The look pictured below was done with the Urban Decay Naked Palette.
I did film a tutorial and it should be uploaded in the next day or so. ;)

I hope you liked my faces of the week.  I had a lot of fun creating them last week.  Stay tuned - Halloween is just around the corner and hopefully I can get many more out this week.

A Lil' Monday Inspiration...

"Everything has beauty, but not everyone sees it."
- Confucius

I had a bunch of errands to run today... nothing big - just a trip to the post office and grocery market.  I was quite lucky because my in-laws offered to watch the twins... so that I didn't have to take 2 nineteen month olds out of the car and into the strollers twice...  and it surely made for an easier time while I was out.

I normally don't think of much while out running errands, because my mind is usually preoccupied with the kiddos... either they are really active, mad or just talking up a storm... so I normally have my mind focused on them.  It was nice to be out and about and have my thoughts to myself this morning.  I actually took a second to "Stop and smell the roses" so to say.  I really haven't had the opportunity this season to take a minute and look at what Spring has brought us... sunshine, green grass, an array of scents from florals to greenery and wonderful creatures like birds and butterflies.  Though I only took a few seconds... the blue skies, birds chirping, fragrances and the beautiful jacaranda trees certainly helped to make this a beautiful day.

Since I know I will not be posting much over the next week and a half with my trip... I wanted to leave everyone with a little inspiration.  Take time to stop and look at all the beauty around you... whether it be a dinosaur shaped cloud, breathtaking blooming Purple Jacarandas or a child's laughter... and soak it all up.  Love and enjoy your life and what it has to offer.  Feeling like you can't see beauty in the World today, try closing your eyes... and hearing it instead.  Beauty is all around us and in Everything! :)

Happy Monday to all of you.

Want to see a few vlogs while I'm on my trip... visit my youtube channel by clicking on the links above or by going to: http://www.youtube.com/destne146.  Come & join in on the fun with me. :)

Finding time for healthy eating... and being a fulltime mommy.

If you are a mommy, I am sure you will agree with me when I say that eating healthy is near to impossible when you have children. I have faced an abundance of challenges in my life, but eating healthy while running after my 3 sons is posing a huge challenge for me.

My six year old (almost 7) is a big encouragement for me because for the most part, he enjoys eating most vegetables and healthy foods. However, finding the time to eat regular meals to build my metabolism instead of snacks or just not eating at all seems like the logical choice when the twins got me on the go.

I desperately need the help and advice of other mommies out there who manage to keep a balanced, healthy food and eating schedule. How do you do it? It seems like there is never enough minutes in the day to feed everyone in the household, as well as myself. And, also trying to ensure that the meals I am cooking are healthy and nutritious.

I know exercise is also a key factor in being healthy and losing weight... Which is a bit of a challenge... But not by too much, because the kiddos like to be active, so it helps out a lot.

I am open to any suggestions others might have.:-) so please post comments or email me with any ideas.

Xoxo,
Honey girl.

My First E.L.F. (Eyes Lips Face) Cosmetic Haul

Yes, as the title states... this is my first E.L.F. Haul.  Living on Maui, there really isn't anywhere to purchase E.L.F. products unless you order them online... so I totally lucked out when I came across a bunch of products while doing my normal shopping. Most of the products I found at my local Ross store.  I swear - this place is a goldmine...  though I must admit, I don't often enjoy shopping there, everything is always unorganized.  (Maybe I just shop there during all the wrong times)  The Beauty Encyclopedia's were found at my local Walgreens.  I wasn't really interested in shopping there when it first opened last year... but since I have gone there just about a month ago, it is turning out to be one of my favorite stores. :)  Below are photos of my E.L.F. purchases.  I have my thoughts on the items listed below and the cost I bought each one for.  I cannot wait to do tutorials on looks with these items...  so excited. :)

So - I am excited on my special finds... and the prices I got them for are pretty comparable for what you can get them online for.  Don't forget that when you go to places like Ross, Walgreens, etc - to check their cosmetic or gift section for awesome finds like these.

E.L.F. Liquid Eyeliner 3pk.  Liners are in black, silver & plum $2.99 at Ross
I haven't had the chance to really use these yet...  I did do swatches on them, which are pictured below.  Here is my opinion of them from swatching and testing out the swatches.

Thoughts...  The black & plum eyeliners have great pigmentation and glide on quite easily.  The silver one took at least 4 strokes to get the color payoff pictured on the swatch.  The liners have a felt tip applicator, instead of the regular skinny brush applicator you get with other liquid liners... and the product is pretty much filled to the top of the bottle.  I rubbed at the liner after it dried to see if it smugged... and it did stay on pretty well... but it is not waterproof - I dripped water on it and it ran so fast I thought it was running a race.

All in all - for the price, I think it is pretty great.  I would definitely set the liners with an eyeshadow... and make sure you have a good primer to help its staying power a little bit more. :)

Black, Silver & Plum eyeliner swatches - Left to Right.

E.L.F. Flirty Eyelash Palettes in Diamond Lash & Dramatic Lash $2.99 at Ross
I haven't had the chance to try these on yet.  They come with adhesive to apply it.  Once I do - I will be sure to post pictures of the look as well as a review. :)

E.L.F. Duo Shadow Kit - Color 101
A total of 8 shadow colors and one E.L.F. Professional Eye Shadow Brush
$4.99 at Ross

I am so excited to use these... I swiped a few of them with my fingers to test it out... and absolutely enjoy the pigmentation so far.  I will be doing looks on them soon. :)  One downfall thought... the Professional Eyeshadow Brush was a bad make.  When I took it out of the packaging... it seems really soft - until I felt the back of the brush... it had glue stuck all over it and it was dried and hard.  I simply wouldn't be able to use it - especially on my eyes.  Maybe I can find another use for it.

Unfortunately I could not find the name of the colors anywhere on the shadow pots / pans or on the box.  If I find out what they are - I will update this blog and list the names at a later time.

E.L.F. Bright Eyes Quad Collection - $4.99 at Ross
4 Shadows & one Professional Eyeshadow Brush with Brightening Eyeliner in Black

These colors look absolutely beautiful in person as they do in the photograph.  I cannot wait to try them out.  I haven't swatched any of them yet... but I will post pictures once I do. :)

E.L.F. Color 101 Smoky Eye Kit - $4.99 at Ross
Includes 1 Smoky Shadow Quad, 1 Brightening Eyeliner, 1 Professional Eyelash Curler, 1 Lengthening & Defining Mascara and 1 Professional Eyeshadow Brush.

I haven't used the eyeshadow quad or eyeliner yet... though I did swatch the eyeliner... it glided on very smoothly... so far I am impressed.  The brush in this set is very soft... I can't wait to try it.  I have been using the eyelash curler and absolutely love it... it is my favorite eyelash curler to date - I think I will be ordering more online.  I also tried out the mascara.  At first application, I was not impressed and in fact - quite frustrated with it... because the brushes bristles were so far apart I wasn't getting the look I wanted.  I stopped using it and then went back to it a few days later.  I like how short the brush is because I was able to get in to my inner corners and grab those little lashes and I took the time to try and apply it so it would work for me.  All in all, I would give it a thumbs up - because my eyelashes have a nice length to them without adding a heavy helping of clumpiness.  There are a few downfalls, it easily smudges off of my lashes.  My eyes watered just a little and normal mascara would not run as much as this one did.  Also - when I close my eyes... sometimes I feel like my eyelashes are sticking together.  I do like that this mascara is beyond affordable and does pretty well.  Since my lashes are growing with the Rimmel mascara, the ELF one did give my eyelashes pretty good length and grabbed onto the little lashes that other brushes can miss.  I could overlook the negatives and would buy this mascara again. :)

Beauty  Encyclopedia's - Neutrals Edition and  Smoky Edition - $5.00 at Walgreens

I haven't tried any of these yet.  But as soon as I do - I will be sure to do a tutorial or post pictures. :)

My take on a Lux Addiction Case - I did it all by myself. :)

As promised - here are a few photos of my cell phone case that I made today.

I didn't take any photos of it on my phone because it was still drying.  But - so far so good, it has withstood me dropping it several times... and tugging on it too.  Most of the products I got was from Walmart and the clear case I got from Ebay.  I love crafts and there are always ways to D.I.Y.

If you want to save yourself sticky glued together fingers and the few hours of work... you can purchase a real lux addiction case at http://www.luxaddiction.com.  I don't own one - but those I know that do love theirs.  I'm pretty thrifty - so I'll stick to my D.I.Y. one. :)

Have an awesome weekend.

Honey

Holiday Nails - Trendy Colors for this Winter Holiday Season

Painting your nails happens to be one of the biggest accessories a gal could ever do to spice up her look.  With colors straight off the runway to nude colors that are simple and wearable every day - this is a must have to bump up your style and sport a nice clean & funky look.

This Holiday Season - the trendy colors for nail polish are not the same old reds, golds & greens that you are used to seeing...  Magazines and runway models are sporting beautiful, deep & dark purples, plums and burgundy polishes & lacquer.  Add some extra bling by attaching some jewels or a top coat of your favorite glitters.

Here are some photos of my favorite colors.  You can find these at your local beauty supply stores or salons... and some of them you can find at your local drugstore or Avon.com

Plus Sized Outfit of the Day

Today's Plus Sized Outfit of the Day is all about getting ready for Holiday Glitz & Glam.  If there is ever a time to dress to impress, it is during this time... when you can pull out all the stops - and sexy up your look for a night out on the town.  Pictured below is a beautiful dress by Z. Cavaricci Couture.  This Sparkle Leopard Tube Ruched Dress can be found at Torrid.com and features sexy accents like eyelash lace trimming on the hem and neckline with a back zip entry and elastic back.  It hugs your curves so perfectly as to show off all your greatest assets.  Obviously - the model pictured below is not me... but you know I would "ROCK" this dress.  In the photo below - the dress is paired with a Z. Cavaricci Couture Shelby Perforated Black Heel, an internet exclusive from torrid.com.  The heels are quite stylish and sexy but this dress is so hot that you could easily pair it with a sexy stiletto heel or black bootie.

Finish off this look with accessories like a beautiful layered silver or gold necklace or a simple black beaded necklace like they have pictured and a few bangle bracelets, dangle or chandelier earrings and a cocktail ring. This look can be matched up with either a nice natural makeup look with a rich red lip color or a sexy and sultry smokey eye in dark grays and purples and a nude lip.

For extra sexy style, leave you hair down and add some volumizer to give you that extra bold, a little messy but totally sexy look.  Don't forget to rock your look with a cute clutch.  Pairing your look with a clutch that is either gold or silver (depending on the colors of your accessories) will keep you ready for a night on the town.  If it is chilly out - simply add a cute shrug or waist length trench coat to polish off your look.  ;)

Check out torrid.com to purchase/view the dress pictured and other accessories.

Stay tuned for more Plus Sized Outfits of the Day and subscribe to my blog to keep up to date with my posts.

Thanks for stopping in.
