An affordable alternative to Makeup Remover Wipes - Same Quality, Better Price Tag

I am all about saving a dime and this simple tip will save you quite a bit when it comes to Makeup Remover Wipes. :)

Makeup Remover Wipes are so convenient when taking off your makeup.  Instead of using a cotton ball or cotton pad and makeup remover... this cool invention allows you to have a wipe with makeup remover on it and it covers your entire face when your need to remove your makeup from that day.  The downfall is that this darn things can be pricey... and although they are totally worth every penny, being a mommy on a budget - I just couldn't justify paying the cost that they are sold for.

The wipes pictured above from MAC are quite popular in the cosmetic industry
and have been my favorite for years.
The bulk pack which includes 100 wipes costs $26.00.
The regular sized pack with 45 wipes are $18.00
(Photo from maccosmetics.com)

After trying different techniques - I discovered this way was the most affordable and still allowed me to use my favorite makeup remover and I wanted to share this technique with you.  It is my own little DIY and is so worth the cost.

I started by purchasing baby wipes in bulk - I first purchased them from Costco and brought the Kirkland Signature brand.  That ran me approximately $20.00 for a box of 10 packs of wipes.  Each pack had 100 wipes.  I do not use this brand any longer because I share the bulk wipes with the twins... and they had a minor reaction to them (you know babies and sensitive skin) so I changed the brand.  Plus, I did notice that this particular wipes (though the cloth was awesome) the solution did contribute to my face drying out.  I now use Parent's Choice brand wipes (found at my local Walmart) which comes with over 700 wipes (approx. 8 packs) for $11.00 and I can buy them in "Sensitive" and/or "Fragrance Free".  Since I have the option of selecting which type of wipe I want (sensitive, fragrance free, scented "which I do not recommend" or soft cotton cloth) I can control my skin reactions and easily change up the brand or the type of wipe without putting a big dent in my pocket book.  Then I paired them with one of my favorite makeup removers...  Neutrogena Oil Free Eye Makeup Remover and the rest is history.

Watch my video (below) to get all the details and start saving you some moolah so you can spend it on more makeup :)  Now - not only do I share the big box of wipes with my kids... I also have a very inexpensive alternative to such an expensive brand name.
When the costs are averaged... here is the break down.

Neutrogena Oil Free Eye Makeup Remover - 5.5 FL.oz = $7.00 - $9.00 at your local CVS, Walgreens, Walmart... pretty much any drugstore has them.  You can make approximately 4-5 packs of wipes with each bottle depending on the amount you want to use to saturate the wipes.

Parent's Choice Baby Wipes - 704 wipes total ( 8 packs total ) = $10.00 - $13.00 at your local Walmart.

One wipe packet with makeup remover added... averages out to approximately:  $4.00 (that is the high amount)

This is totally worth it and I love that I am saving so much money.  So - watch the video below and I will tell you exactly what I do. :)  Happy Makeup Removing to all of you.

I am not affiliated or compensated in anyway to mention any of the products listed above.
This is my own opinion and this post and video is for informational purposes only.
I am not liable for any reactions that anyone may have when trying this technique mentioned here.

Pucker up with Leslie Tyler's Lip Gloss - Product Review

I became a huge Leslie Tyler fan from the first time I seen her on an episode of Jerseylicious.  Honestly, I had no idea who she was before then... but I knew that when I heard her name again - this time, connected to a lip gloss, I just had to try it. :)

I was sent Leslie Tyler's Sheer & Shine Lip gloss in Apricot Glaze to try out by It's a Glam Thing.  I am quite taken with this lip gloss.  I must admit - I am really liking the texture, quality and staying power.

See my vlog review below for all the details. :)

FOTD - Subtle drama, Face of the Day

Here is my FOTD - a simple and quick day time look...  using the following products:

MAC's Shroom - over the lid
MAC's Antiqued - in the crease and blended up and down
MAC's Carbon - just a little bit in the outer corner to add a little drama
MAC's Carbon on my lower & upper lash line as my liner
Rimmel London's Lash Accelerator Mascara in Black on my lashes

On my lips I have Pale Rose Lipstick by Avon

On my face I have MAC's Studio Fix Foundation in NC44

This look was very easy and simple to do... and it also gives your eyes a nice little pop of drama but still allowing it to be a very wearable day time look.

To ensure a soft look without the drama of a night look - use your MAC224 or soft blended brush to blend out the lines for a really soft look. ;)

Hope you like it. ;)

Honey

Day 14 - Blog Challenge, What is in your makeup bag?

What isn't in your makeup bag would be a more appropriate question.  Right now, my makeup bag that I take with me is pretty sparse because I just changed my purse...  so I threw my MAC blot powder & carmex lip conditioner in my purse pocket and called it a day...  but normally - here is what you can find in my makeup bag.

  • MAC Blot Powder
  • MAC Studio Fix Powder Foundation (I use this for touch ups only if I really need it - but other than that... I don't usually reapply my foundation and just use the blot powder)
  • MAC Select Moisture Cover Concealer (for spot treating any areas on the go)
  • Carmex Moisture Plus Ultra Hydrating Lip Balm with Vitamin E + Aloe & SPF 15 (this is a mandatory and I will always have it in my bag no matter what.  I have dry lips and this is great to keep it moisturized and protected.)
  • Loreal Infallible Never Fail Lip Gloss in a Nude color...  right now you can find it in Coral Sands in my purse.
  • A Basic Mascara - I am currently really liking Revlon's Grow Luscious Mascara because it has yet to clump my lashes (LOVE THIS STUFF, formal review coming soon.)
  • A Lipstick Tube - usually one of my Nude colors from Avon.
  • A MAC Lipglass - usually Viva Glam VI
  • A Eyeliner pencil - usually one of Avon's Glimmersticks Pencil in Blackest Black or Blackest Night (waterproof)
  • Tweezers (I use this mainly when I am sitting in the car waiting for someone... I tweeze my strays :-D)
  • Bobby pins (never know when you need these)
  • Twist tie or rubberband
  • makeup remover (or sometimes I take this out and just use the baby wipes I always have on hand)
  • back up earrings - incase I forget to put mine on before I leave the house.
  • A Multipurpose palette - this palette usually consists of 3-5 colors (eyeshadows or both eyeshadow & blush).  I select to use my palettes that will allow me to do a quick makeup look - like a brown smokey eye and I'll have an extra green shade or blue shade in there.  Something that is multipurpose.  Often times you will find my small MAC quads or MAC holiday collection palettes in my purse.
That is pretty much it - the list is long but it fits all in my Hello Kitty Makeup bag and I stick it in my purse.   Ready to go when ever I need it. ;-)

The look for today.... sexy, sultry, but simple.

Here is my look for today. I'm sorry I didn't do a tutorial on it, but I was in a rush.

Products used:
Eyes:
Primer used was two faced shadow insurance all over eye lid from lash to brow and NYX jumbo pencil in milk on the lid. Blend milk so that it is not clumped on lid.
Shadow: expensive pink on the lid. Sketch in the crease. Shroom as a highlight.
EyeLiner: I used Avon glimmersticks eyeliner in blackest black.
Lashes: I used colossal mascara on my lashes. (waterproof)
Lips: I used MAC lusterglass in Babied.
Face: I used MAC studio fix liquid foundation and concealer. I also used MAC's blot powder to set my foundation and Fix Plus to set and give my foundation that airbrushed look.

Hope u like this look... Hopefully I can do a video on the look in the future. Thanks for stopping by.
Xoxo
