Dear diary... my week in review

It has been an interesting week.... A busy week. First, let me say that I recorded my first "dear diary" tonight and for some reason the video was completely black, though my voice was recorded. Ugh... That was totally frustrating and a major bust.... Dang it.

Wednesday was my eldest son's 7th birthday... Though we didn't have a party, we had a nice family dinner which we all enjoyed.

Today, I attempted to walk just under a mile up to my son's school to pick him up after his day. With the changes in my eating habits and trying to be healthy... I thought I could carry one of the twins in the ergo carrier and the other one in the stroller and walk up to the school in an area where I had to basically walk completely up hill. I couldn't make it. As if it wasn't bad enough that my muscles were burning like crazy.... My asthma kicked in and I couldn't breathe. I had to turn around and walk back down to my house and load up in the car because continuing to walk to the school would have been very dangerous for me and my asthma. And, if anything would happen to me, my babies would be in huge danger.

This week is one of those that started off on a positive note... And considering I had some major challenges... I still feel that it will end in an awesome way.

Wishing all of you an awesome end to your week and a great week next week.

Finding time for healthy eating... and being a fulltime mommy.

If you are a mommy, I am sure you will agree with me when I say that eating healthy is near to impossible when you have children. I have faced an abundance of challenges in my life, but eating healthy while running after my 3 sons is posing a huge challenge for me.

My six year old (almost 7) is a big encouragement for me because for the most part, he enjoys eating most vegetables and healthy foods. However, finding the time to eat regular meals to build my metabolism instead of snacks or just not eating at all seems like the logical choice when the twins got me on the go.

I desperately need the help and advice of other mommies out there who manage to keep a balanced, healthy food and eating schedule. How do you do it? It seems like there is never enough minutes in the day to feed everyone in the household, as well as myself. And, also trying to ensure that the meals I am cooking are healthy and nutritious.

I know exercise is also a key factor in being healthy and losing weight... Which is a bit of a challenge... But not by too much, because the kiddos like to be active, so it helps out a lot.

I am open to any suggestions others might have.:-) so please post comments or email me with any ideas.

Xoxo,
Honey girl.

My Weight Loss Journey...

It seems like time & time again... I am making resolutions each year to lose extra pounds...  and this year - I decided I wanted to make a change.

NO MORE RESOLUTIONS!!!  I am striving to eat healthy & be healthy this year and always.  It can be hard to do this -seeing as I live in a household where both my husband and I are pretty good cooks and love to eat our naughty food.  But, I am vowing to have cheat days just once a week...  and eat healthy and reasonable the rest of the week.

I signed up for myfitnesspal.com a few days back - and I love it because it is holding me accountable for my eating habits by showing me the amount of calories I am eating along with other things like carbs, proteins, fat, etc.  The really cool thing about this is that it is a free online program that I can use and I also have an app on my phone that will allow me to track my progress when I am on the go.  This is AWESOME!  It has a database of foods & exercises and I am able to blog directly on the site if I choose.  The other cool thing is that you can request to be friends of those that currently use the system as well... a great way to keep you on track and an awesome support system built right into the whole online program.

One thing I have to admit... keeping on top of a healthy diet is not easy.  Healthy food, organic food and even fruits and vegetables are very expensive... that it makes it a lot easier to shop for the foods that are high in calories, fat and carbohydrates.  Processed foods and ready made meals look more enticing because of the easy process of getting it made.  Even when clipping coupons - shopping can be depressing... especially in this economy we are all experiencing.

Another challenge for me is the fact that I really need to remember that portion control is EVERYTHING.

I hope to keep you all updated on my weight loss journey... or shall I call it my HEALTHIER ME journey.  Wish me luck! ;)

xoxo,
Honey
