Coastal Scents, build your makeup kit with these essentials

Those of you that have been in the beauty community for some time have probably heard of Coastal Scents. If you haven't - I am sure that you will be running over to their site as soon as you are done reading my post ;)  I have been a Coastal Scents customer for over 4 years.  As a Freelance MUA - I purchase a good amount of my brushes and cosmetics for my kit from Coastal Scents - not only because they are affordable, but also because they offer awesome quality as well.

I was so lucky to choose out a bunch of products from Coastal Scents to do a review on.  Thank you Coastal Scents for sending me these awesome products - I love them and I enjoy being your customer.

I chose to review the following products:  The African Black Soap (I chose the sample size), the Facial cleansing scrub, the Shadow Worx Eyeshadow Primer, the Angled Eyeliner Brush and of course - my most raved about product... the 22 Piece Brush Set (pictured below).  And, as usual with all of their orders... Coastal Scents included an eyeshadow pigment sample.

I have been waiting for a few years to get my hands on an angled eyeliner brush after watching countless videos by MakeupGeek and how she absolutely loves hers, so I had to get it since I had the opportunity.  I love it.  It makes applying my eyeliner much easier and no shedding yet. :)

I am also very much inlove with the shadow worx, facial scrubber and the 22 brush set.  You will see the details in my video below - but I am certainly impressed. ;)  I really love the facial scrub.  It allows me to exfoliate my face and neck without hurting me dramatically.  Many scrubbers are very abrasive... and it causes me a ton of pain - but the bristles on this one is soft - but definitely exfoliates and gets the job done well.  I was really impressed considering it was very very affordable.  You can buy several at a time and throw them out when you are done and it is over used.

It's not pictured - but the fan brush is in the lower part of the picture and it is a huge brush - but great for dusting fall out off of your cheeks.  I am very impressed with this brush set.  I have used each brush already (though I did not in my video - I have had the opportunity to try it out before posting this) and I am very impressed.  My one con is that I wish that this set came with two important brushes in my arsenal - a brush similar to my MAC 224 and a brush similar to my MAC 217.  Either way though... I make them work.  I will just have to pack those separately if I want to use them. 

Here is the video review of what I received.  I tried to get as detailed as possible with each item and especially the brush set.  I surely give that set 5 Stars - I am seriously impressed with it. :)

Above is what I received for my review selection.  I was able to pick out the products myself.  You can watch the video below as I go over each product and what they are used for.  I can tell you that I did decide to select Dermalogica because I have used it many times in the past and it was referred to me by my Cosmetologist that does my facials.  She uses those products consistently and exclusively - so I had to get some of my own.  I have also used the Nailtiques Formula which has really helped to improve the health of my nails.  Though those 2 are the ones that stick out to me most... I have tried the rest and really do like it.  My favorite would be the iQ Derma Teeth Whitener - mainly because it did whiten but did not make my teeth feel overly sensitive.

It's pronounced... MEE CHEE - Review and Giveaway

First of all... it's pronounced MEE - CHEE! ;)

As if my obsession with purses and handbags weren't bad enough... I have found the most ultimate handbag for all who love them as much as I do.  “As if these handbags aren't already the BUSINESS... So - thanks to Miche Bag - I was able to try out this awesome handbag.  I received the Prima Base Bag and shells in Thereasa (pictured above), Savannah, Cleo and Leah.  Of course, Thereasa is my favorite - because we all know I love Leopard Print.  Although - we also know that I do not ever discriminate against any one bag, print or design. lol  The Savannah is a beautiful Dreamsicle color - love it so much and Cleo is another leopard print bag that is toned down in color compared to Thereasa.  Leah - as most of you may know is the shell that will be given away to one lucky winner and it is a beautiful green faux leather shell.  I love it and let me tell you - it will be very difficult to give up.

Each shell is different in design and even their pockets have a different look and feel.  It really does offer you so much room to play and experience different styles and pairing with any outfit is definitely a sinch.  I have been using these for about 2 weeks now and I love being able to change up my bag at the snap of my finger - just undue the magnetic parts and remove the shell... then replace with one that you want for the day... AWESOME!  Any mommy would love to have a bag like this - especially the Prima - I take all my kids goodies in these and the rest of my mommy necessities and never have to worry about emptying out my bag again.  I cannot wait to get more shells and even try out the other bags they have to offer in different sizes:  The Classic (the original bag), The Petite, and the new Demi.

Miche comes out with new styles each month and some of the representatives have different / limited styles on hand for you to choose.  And, they even offer women an opportunity to make money on their own time... I love companies that empower women - especially those who want to stay at home with their children.

Flatironexperts.com and the KQC X Heat Ceramic Styling Flat Iron

First of all, let me just start off by saying... my crazy hair loves this flat iron.  I was pretty leery about what I would be receiving - the company didn't give me much information about the product, only that they were sending me something that would help to tame my crazy locks.  I was doubtful, because having used many products - though there are many that made my FAV's list - I haven't really been using hot tools on my hair for almost a year and I have consistently bleached & dyed my hair over the last 5 months.

Flatironexperts.com sent me the KQC X Heat Ceramic Styling Flat Iron via Fed Ex.  It arrived from Canada in a matter of about 3 days.  Shipping was definitely quick, which is a big deal for me.  When I opened the box the day it arrived, again - still not that excited... in my mind I thought to myself... "How is this supposed to be great for my hair?  It seems like any other flat iron on the market!"  

Well, slap me silly and call me dead wrong. I plugged in my new flat iron and within 2-3 seconds, it was completely warmed up and ready to go.  I was still reading the packaging and the KQC Shine Spray that came with it and before I knew it - I could use this awesome tool.

It glided through my hair effortlessly.  Let me just explain - that I did not previously detangle my hair...  my hair was washed the evening before and very very curly... so I should have ran a comb through it.  I was just too excited, that I decided not to.  I parted my hair like I normally do when flat ironing... starting from the bottom portions of my hair and working my way up to the top of my head.  It took me about 26 minutes to get through my entire head and to get it completely straight.

Flat ironing and straightening your hair not for you... you love curls?  Well, I tested this awesome item out on my ends of my hair to see if it would curl and it did awesomely.  The iron gets hot enough to add curls to your hair, but not as hot as many of the other irons get that it will burn your hands.  The tool heats up to 410 Degrees in a very short time so you can get styling quickly and effortlessly.  It comes with a swivel chord - which is perfect for styling your hair in any situation... there's not tangling your body in your chord while you are working with your hair.  The 1" flat iron is the perfect width to get the right amount of hair and work your way through the process without having to take too little amounts at a time. 

My favorite part about this awesome product is that it is not as thick as my other flat irons... and since I have Carpal Tunnel syndrome, this is great for my wrists and forearms.  I can glide it easily through my hair without pain in my wrists and it is just about 1 lb heavy - so your arms will not get easily exhausted while working with your hair.

My hair is so soft so awesome and it lasts without problems till my next wash.  I love it.

Gofavor.com - An affordable place to get wigs & more

I recently have had the opportunity to get a few items from a company called gofavor.com.  Gofavor.com is an online based accessory business that offers affordable jewelry, hair accessories, wigs and party supplies.  They ship worldwide and offer an array of items to fit all fashion styles, needs and tastes.

Shipping to Hawaii was really fast - considering it came from oversees... which is really awesome.  I selected items that I would not normally choose myself but wanted to try and of course - I love wigs... so I couldn't pass that opportunity up.

With Halloween just a few weeks away - gofavor.com offers Halloween costumes and wigs to go with your Halloween look.  What I love about their wigs (or at least the wig I was able to try) is that the hair is very soft - not coarse at all and they are super duper affordable.  I love the side swept bang and how easily the wig fits on my head.  I originally thought I had asked for a short haired wig - because I already have long hair - but regardless, I did enjoy it very much.

The next item I received was a really cool Nautical Anchor necklace.  It is on an antique gold style chain and looks really cool.  Though it is not something I would normally wear outside of the Summer months - I thought this was a really cool piece.  It has a great weight to it and very affordable.

The 3rd item I received were these really cool threaded earrings.  I used to make these in High school and always thought they were cool - so I decided to choose them.  I do like them. They are light weight and actually large in size so they are a perfect statement piece.  The only downfall that I noticed, that I did not mention in the video because it happened afterward is that the threading started to come off after the first use.  But, they are so affordable that replacing them will not put a huge dent in your pocket.

And lastly, I received a crown pendant necklace.  It is on a silver chain and has a huge rhinestone in the middle.  It has a good weight to it and is an awesome statement piece.   Definitely worth the buy.

All in all - I am quite pleased with the company and their products.  As I mentioned earlier - shipping is very fast and I received these in the mail fairly quickly.  The affordability is absolutely awesome.  All of the items I received were under $25.00 so definitely a great buy in my opinion.  My favorite is certainly the wigs.

The ultimate question - "Would I buy from this site again?" My answer - Yes, it is definitely an affordable place to shop - I will be purchasing from them - especially their wigs. ;)

Sunglasses Warehouse Review - Strut your stuff in an awesome pair of shades.

I had the awesome opportunity to do a review on a company called Sunglass Warehouse.  This awesome company provides affordable designer inspired sunglasses to fit all fashion budgets and wardrobes.

This company offers their sunglasses for under $20 - which as we all know, is a huge steal... seeing as many of our local shopping malls or even flea markets offer similar styles for a higher price tag.  They offer free shipping with all orders over $25 and each style offers UVA/UVB Protection.   This is very important to help protect our eyesight.

Black Retro Sunglasses - Wayfarers

Their styles range from simple everyday sunglasses for the simple person to the extravagant.  Currently, they are offering some of the most popular styles that are coming back from my childhood - like the Black Retro Sunglasses I used to rock as a little girl.  I am amazed at how popular they are again.  I received the Gold & Tan Leopard Frame Sunglasses with an amber colored lens.  I particularly love wrap around sunglasses and these fit great.  They are light weight and very stylish.  It is easy to find an outfit to match and pair with these awesome shades.  They even have polarized sunglasses which I am used to wearing seeing as I use Maui Jims most of the time.  Most if not all of my sunglasses are polarized so the fact that they have this option for me and that they are no more than $20.00 is absolutely awesome.  What I thought to be interesting, is that they also have the infamous "rhinestone detailed shield glasses" that you may have seen on Jerseylicious or Jersey Shore.  Though not particularly my style - I thought they were pretty cool.  You can find these particular shades by searching "oversized sunglasses" and a list of some really awesome ones will pop up.  They even have a really cool leopard print one in the same frame design.

I have been a Store Manager for a huge sunglasses chain and I know that choosing a pair is not necessarily an easy task.  You can struggle with the shape that fits your face best.  What makes Sunglass Warehouse so awesome is that they also assist you with choosing the right pair.  Not sure what type of frame or sunglasses will fit your face shape?  Well, don't worry - they offer assistance in that area.  You will be able to find help on their site for everything from:  Choosing sunglasses for your face shape as well as choosing sunglasses based on your skin tones.  That is so awesome and if you ask me, that is a very important thing to have.  One of the biggest fashion don'ts I see often is the wrong sunglasses for the person who is wearing it.  Take advantage of this tool, it is definitely worth it.

As an experienced sunglasses wearer - I am very impressed with the customer service and the products.  Not to mention - I live in Hawaii and shipping was extremely fast - just about 3 days and it was in my hands.   I will definitely be buying from sunglasswarehouse.com again and again because they are superb and definitely worth it.

Porkdaisy.com Review - Get your NYX fix!

Today, I am doing a review for porkdaisy.com.  I have found my absolutely favorite place to shop for my favorite NYX Cosmetics.  The site is easy to use, customer service is awesome and not to mention... the are so dang affordable - my hubby will love me shopping there too. lol The Deats... Just a little background on Porkdaisy.com. Pork Daisy started in 2009 and had an ebay store. They offered High Quality Cosmetics and Jewelry accessories at a very reasonable and affordable budget.  In 2010 they launched their site and have been continuing to provide their consumers with awesome product at unbelievable and affordable pricing.   Pictured to the left are the items I picked out to review as well as the mailer that I received them in.  Shipping was fast - it took just about 3 days to arrive in Hawaii.  Everything was packaged well and the envelope was a bubble mailer which ensured that it would be delivered perfectly.   The first item I chose was the Super Skinny Eye Marker by NYX.  It retails on the porkdaisy.com site at the moment for $7.75 - almost $2.00 cheaper than the normal retail price.   I was very impressed with this product after the first use.  As you can see with my swatch pictured, this felt tip marker design offers an ease when it comes to precision.  It is in a carbon black which is awesome for creating that perfect liner look.  What I truly loved about it is that after using it over several different eyeshadows, it did not dry up or get sticky so that I was unable to use it again.  Most liquid felt tip liners always give me the same difficulty... and this one exceeded my expectations.  What makes it so much better is that it is so affordable on porkdaisy.com. The second product I ordered was the new NYX Matte lipstick in Tea Rose.  This product retails for $5.25 which gives you a great price on it as well.  These lipsticks can be found at my local drug store for $8.00.  The color payoff was fabulous and it glided on effortlessly.  Like most lipsticks that are not meant for all day wear, it's staying power would be exactly what I expected, but all in all - still pretty awesome.  Fall months are my favorite time of year to transition into soft nude colored pinks.  I thought this pretty number was a great addition because it had a hint of sparkle.  This beautiful color called Christie is from the NYX Round Lipstick Line.  And, the awesome thing is that it is almost 50% cheaper on Porkdaisy.com then most sites or my local drug store.  Last but not least, I really wanted to try the NYX Mood Lip gloss.  First let me start off by saying that this is a pretty awesome concept. ;)  Porkdaisy.com sells them for $3.85 - which is an awesome discounted price from anywhere else.  It is almost a dollar cheaper than retail.  I absolutely love this thing.  It really did have different colors.  I can't say that they changed dramatically from color to color but there were subtle hints of change.   What I did notice is that each time I put the gloss on on different days - they were different hues.  The first time I tried it - it was a coral pink type of color. The second time, it was a nice reddish pink color - but still very wearable and natural looking and last but not least, it was a nice gloss color that gave a hint of brown and pink.  It looked like I had gloss on my normal lips.  I really like this gloss, it smells good and it didn't really have any funky flavor to it. ;) All in all, I am very impressed with Porkdaisy.com.  As I mentioned previously - they are quick to ship, quick to answer your questions and their prices just  simply can't be beat.  Definitely check them out for all your NYX cosmetics and stop on in to see what kind of specials they have going on at the moment.  Their selection is great and I am very happy to have had the opportunity to be able to try them out. ;) I hope you enjoyed this review.  Don't forget to check them out.  xoxo  Honey Check out my video review below. If you love makeup as much as I do - you will know that your Tools are very very important.  And, what are your tools as a Makeup Artist or lover, you might be asking???  Well, your Make up brushes, of course.  I have a huge selection of brushes to choose from in my artillery - but I have yet to get my hands on a brush from Sedona Lace.  Why do I want Sedona Lace Brushes?  Well, first of all - they are known for providing you with quality products.  I for one, own a few of their items and absolutely love them, so I know that their Cosmetic Brushes will be really awesome.  Their 12 piece brush set is absolutely ideal and their prices are very affordable.  I would love to add their brushes to my collection and I would make very good use of them. :)

Do you own any Make up brushes?  What are your favorites?  Why do you need a make up brush or brushes?  A make up brush is used for flawless application and allows you to blend your products easily so that to create your desired look.  Make up is an art form and like all artists who use Paint brushes, make up brushes are important as well. 

My First E.L.F. (Eyes Lips Face) Cosmetic Haul

Yes, as the title states... this is my first E.L.F. Haul.  Living on Maui, there really isn't anywhere to purchase E.L.F. products unless you order them online... so I totally lucked out when I came across a bunch of products while doing my normal shopping. Most of the products I found at my local Ross store.  I swear - this place is a goldmine...  though I must admit, I don't often enjoy shopping there, everything is always unorganized.  (Maybe I just shop there during all the wrong times)  The Beauty Encyclopedia's were found at my local Walgreens.  I wasn't really interested in shopping there when it first opened last year... but since I have gone there just about a month ago, it is turning out to be one of my favorite stores. :)  Below are photos of my E.L.F. purchases.  I have my thoughts on the items listed below and the cost I bought each one for.  I cannot wait to do tutorials on looks with these items...  so excited. :)

So - I am excited on my special finds... and the prices I got them for are pretty comparable for what you can get them online for.  Don't forget that when you go to places like Ross, Walgreens, etc - to check their cosmetic or gift section for awesome finds like these.

E.L.F. Liquid Eyeliner 3pk.  Liners are in black, silver & plum $2.99 at Ross

I haven't had the chance to really use these yet...  I did do swatches on them, which are pictured below.  Here is my opinion of them from swatching and testing out the swatches. 

Thoughts...  The black & plum eyeliners have great pigmentation and glide on quite easily.  The silver one took at least 4 strokes to get the color payoff pictured on the swatch.  The liners have a felt tip applicator, instead of the regular skinny brush applicator you get with other liquid liners... and the product is pretty much filled to the top of the bottle.  I rubbed at the liner after it dried to see if it smugged... and it did stay on pretty well... but it is not waterproof - I dripped water on it and it ran so fast I thought it was running a race.  

All in all - for the price, I think it is pretty great.  I would definitely set the liners with an eyeshadow... and make sure you have a good primer to help its staying power a little bit more. :)

I haven't had the chance to try these on yet.  They come with adhesive to apply it.  Once I do - I will be sure to post pictures of the look as well as a review. :)

I am so excited to use these... I swiped a few of them with my fingers to test it out... and absolutely enjoy the pigmentation so far.  I will be doing looks on them soon. :)  One downfall thought... the Professional Eyeshadow Brush was a bad make.  When I took it out of the packaging... it seems really soft - until I felt the back of the brush... it had glue stuck all over it and it was dried and hard.  I simply wouldn't be able to use it - especially on my eyes.  Maybe I can find another use for it.

Unfortunately I could not find the name of the colors anywhere on the shadow pots / pans or on the box.  If I find out what they are - I will update this blog and list the names at a later time.

These colors look absolutely beautiful in person as they do in the photograph.  I cannot wait to try them out.  I haven't swatched any of them yet... but I will post pictures once I do. :)

I haven't used the eyeshadow quad or eyeliner yet... though I did swatch the eyeliner... it glided on very smoothly... so far I am impressed.  The brush in this set is very soft... I can't wait to try it.  I have been using the eyelash curler and absolutely love it... it is my favorite eyelash curler to date - I think I will be ordering more online.  I also tried out the mascara.  At first application, I was not impressed and in fact - quite frustrated with it... because the brushes bristles were so far apart I wasn't getting the look I wanted.  I stopped using it and then went back to it a few days later.  I like how short the brush is because I was able to get in to my inner corners and grab those little lashes and I took the time to try and apply it so it would work for me.  All in all, I would give it a thumbs up - because my eyelashes have a nice length to them without adding a heavy helping of clumpiness.  There are a few downfalls, it easily smudges off of my lashes.  My eyes watered just a little and normal mascara would not run as much as this one did.  Also - when I close my eyes... sometimes I feel like my eyelashes are sticking together.  I do like that this mascara is beyond affordable and does pretty well.  Since my lashes are growing with the Rimmel mascara, the ELF one did give my eyelashes pretty good length and grabbed onto the little lashes that other brushes can miss.  I could overlook the negatives and would buy this mascara again. :)

I haven't tried any of these yet.  But as soon as I do - I will be sure to do a tutorial or post pictures. :)
