Pretty in Pinks and Purples - Spring Eye Makeup Looks

Spring time is here... and there are a huge range of trends that people are sporting this year.  I think Spring is the perfect time of year to sport pastel colors - including pretty pinks and purples...  and a lot of soft and earthy colors.  In the picture below... Scarlett Johansson rocks this "Pretty in Pink & Purples" look with elegance and flair.

I was doing my daily ritual of reading beautyriot.com when I stumbled upon this article.  The article states that Makeup artist Rachel Wood thinks, "powdery pastel washes" are so soft and wearable on the eyes.  The look is perfect for spring not only for the subtleness it portrays - but because it gives any fashion ensemble a pop of color and calls attention to beautiful peepers. :)

MAC Senior Artist Victor Cembellin says:  "When you're picking colors, think lavender, sea foam green, iced blue or peach sherbet."  And - with the array of different cosmetic brands in all price ranges... it can easily be replicated without effort.  I especially love how Scarlett's lips are a beautiful peachy pink nude color... and her cheeks have an effortless glow.  I will surely be recreating this look using some of my favorite palettes and colors.  If I do - I will be sure to post pictures. :)

Gold, Purple & Sparkles... Playing with my Nail Polishes!

Hi Dolls...

I was really lucky to have a few moments to myself the other evening... thanks to my hubby watching the kiddos.   It has been quite some time since I have painted my finger nails... I have been taking the easy way out and foiling them instead - because the drying time is faster and easier on my schedule.  But, I figure I would take out the polish and play. :)

Here are a few looks that I tried out.  I ended up with the last polish coating (pictured at the bottom) because it just matched my skin tone a little better overall.   Please excuse the glare in the photographs... I was rushing and forgot about the flash... :)

Pictured above is China Glaze's Passion
The application was done without a base coat and top coat.
I used 2 coats to get this color payoff.

Pictured above is China Glaze's Passion (Gold) with Nubar's Purple Glitter on top.
Again - no base coat or top coat.  The Purple Glitter was applied in one coat.

I especially love Purple & Gold together... it has always been one of my favorite nail polish combinations.  Nubar's Purple Glitter is so awesome because the glitter transfers to the nail in one sweep easily.

Pictured above is Nubar's Paradise.
This was applied on a clean nail without Base Coat or Top Coat.

I would suggest that you use at least 2 coats because this color can appear very sheer with one coat -
but it is also a great color to apply over another color... i.e. over Gold or Purple polish.
I have even applied this polish over a Green polish and it came out really cool.
I applied 2 coats of this polish to my nails.

This was my final look.  It is very wearable with pretty much any outfit and appears almost nude in color because of the gold tones...  but it has an almost chameleon type base...
so it can change colors to a lavender hue.  It is absolutely gorgeous!

All Products pictured/mentioned above were purchased by me.
I have not been paid or I am not an affiliate with any of the brands mentioned above.

FOTD (Face of the Day) - Gold, Bronze & Purple using Drugstore Makeup

Here is a quick post on my face of the day.  I pictured it in my last blog entry on Valentine's Day Hairstyles... and I wanted to list the products here so you could replicate it if you wanted to.  :)  It is really simple to achieve and is subtle enough to be used during the day or intensified for a night look by adding a brighter/darker base.  I used all drugstore makeup with exception to my primer - which I used my Two Faced Shadow Insurance this time.  I was going to use my Loreal Decrease... but it was not readily available for me to quickly grab... so I used what was handy.  However, this look would be completely done with drugstore brands if I had my Loreal Decrease available.

Primer:  Two Faced Shadow Insurance

Base:  NYX Jumbo E/S Pencil in Yellow on the inner third of the lid and NYX Jumbo E/S Pencil in Bronze on the rest of the lid.

Eyeshadow:  Covergirl eye enhancers trio in Dazzling Metallics #119 (Bronze, Black & Yellow Gold) and NYX Single Eyeshadow in Purple

Liner:  Wet & Wild H2O Waterproof Liquid Liner in Black and Avon Glimmersticks eyeliner in Blackest Night (Waterproof)

Lashes:  Rimmel London's Lash Accelerator Mascara in Black to provide length and Covergirl lash blast Mascara in Black over the Rimmel mascara to provide volume.

Brows:  Avon's Mocha Latte Quad - I used the darkest brown from that Quad called Espresso

Lips:  Loreal Infalliable Never fail lipgloss in Coral Sands

Blush: just a light dusting of NYC Baby Pink mosaic blush to the apples of my cheeks.
No contour or highlight for this look

Foundation:  I did not use foundation for this look.

*Hope you liked it. :)

xoxo ~

My Awesome Christmas Gift from My Awesome Lil' Sis...

I got to open one of my Christmas Gifts early this year.  My lil' Sister Harmony picked up my present the other day and decided that she couldn't wait for me to open it... so she gave it to me early and told me I could open it and use it.  She is AWESOME - and I love her. ;)

Here is a picture of my present.  A Black / Metallic Kathy Van Zeeland Weekend Escape Belt Shopper.  I absolutely love this purse... it suits me and is a perfect fit. ;)  Thank you mini me for my wonderful gift.
