Our Nation's Capital - Our Trip to Washington DC and meeting the President

I know I am so far behind on posting this... so I am so sorry.  It has been really crazy lately... and I have been trying to catch up with all of my blog post.

On April 26, 2011 - my family and I had the opportunity to travel to Washington D.C. to attend the Medal of Honor Ceremony for my husband's late Grand Uncle Anthony T. Kaho'ohanohano.  It was such an experience.  While we were there we soaked up on all the history this city had to offer.  I was pretty sad to come home on May 5th because we truly enjoyed ourself.  It was a much needed time away from home and it allowed us to rejuvenate our souls.

This was an experience of a lifetime and I really loved it and enjoyed myself.  Here are a bunch of  photos of my family & I. :)

Me & my fam bam. We are sitting in the Red Room of the White House on the White House Furniture while in attendance of the Medal of Honor Ceremony.  When we did the Tourist tour a few days later... we were not permitted to even touch the furniture.

hehe!  All Smiles!  I was just an inch away from the Founding Documents of our Nation.  It was locked up and we couldn't use cameras in there... but it was a tear jerker.  George Washington, Ben Franklin, so many signatures. :)

Color Treated Hair and Going on Vacation... Read This!

I was reading a post this morning on one of my favorite beauty sites and it had a list of tips for color treated hair. One of them stood out to me more than the others - especially since summer is here and most of us plan to go traveling during this time.  Before you start making plans to get your hair "Did" read this tip and be prepared.

NEVER color your hair before a vacation.  A lot of women get their hair pressed, permed or colored a few days before leaving on vacation so they can have great looking hair in photographs that they post from all of their traveling adventures.  However, this is not a good idea.  Chlorine on a piece of cloth/material leaves a hole and salt on ice melts...  a week swimming in chlorine, salt or sitting in the sun is a sure way to throw your money down the drain.  You will end up having to get your hair redone because it will fade quickly or could have damaging effects like dryness, frizziness or even turn green.

Not going to the beach or not swimming in the pool?  Traveling to the mountains?  A trip to the mountains will cause damage too because higher elevation brings you closer to the sun and more subject to drier, colder elements which will cause your hair to be dry and brittle.
